Chicago, IL

That is why at Medhat Dental Excellence, we’re committed to bringing you the full spectrum of dental implants. Depending on your personalized diagnosis - including things like the health of your jawbone and gums, the number of missing teeth, and the positioning of your teeth - we will work with you to select the perfect fit for you. There are three primary types of dental implant placements, each suited for different needs.

Single Tooth Implants

These implants are placed only at the spot where you are missing a tooth. These individual implants are ideal for patients who are missing only a single tooth, or several teeth set far apart. While missing only one tooth may not seem like a problem, over time the gap can cause spacing and alignment issues.

The implant is similar to a screw or rod that’s inserted into the living bone of your jaw. Over the course of several months, it fuses with the jawbone, becoming a part of your body. Once it is fully healed, or if you’re a candidate for a special type of all-in-one implant, you will come back in and a crown that seamlessly matches the rest of your teeth will be placed on the implant.

Implant Bridges

Unlike a single tooth implant, implant bridges are designed to replace multiple teeth, making them more similar to dentures. Unlike dentures, though, implant bridges cannot be removed. A bridge looks like several teeth in a row, but unlike single tooth implants, does not require an implant for each tooth, making the procedure and the recovery process both faster. Like with other implant placement types, bridges are designed to be a permanent solution by looking, working, and feeling just like the rest of your teeth. You will not even be able to tell the difference!

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures combine the permanence and reliability of implants with the lower cost and ease of dentures. Just like conventional dentures, the ones supported by implants are designed to replace full arches of teeth. But unlike standard dentures, these do not rest directly on the gums which can cause erosion and gum disease with a lack of reliable cleaning, but on the same kind of implants described above. Because implants help stimulate bone growth, your jaw will not shrink like it does with normal dentures, so there is no need for continuous size and shape adjustments.

Because this placement type is permanent and fixed to the jaw, that means that there is no need for you to worry about the dentures slipping around in your mouth, causing speech difficulties and diet restrictions. While implant-supported dentures can be removed, that is only done at our office so our oral technicians can delicately and carefully clean them.
